Bruce Lee death

Bruce Lee, born Lee Jun Fan on the 27th of November 1940, was a martial artist, as well as an actor, film director and screenwriter. He is considered to be one of the most influential martial artists of the 20th century and is also considered to be a cultural icon. He is credited as the person responsible for elevating the status of Hong Kong martial arts films. On the 20th of July 1973, he was found unconscious in his room and was rushed to the hospital. He did not make it.

Lee’s death is a very mysterious one. It was ruled “death by misadventure” by the doctors. Several weeks prior to Lee’s death, he had collapsed while working on the movie “Enter the Dragon”. He suffered from seizures and headaches and was diagnosed with cerebral edema. Apparently, excess water had accumulated in the extracellular spaces of his brain causing it to swell. The doctors were able to reduce the swelling through the administration of drugs.

A few weeks later on the eve of Lee’s death, he was due to meet George Lazenby to discuss plans on a new movie they wanted to work together on. When Lee failed to attend the dinner, producer Raymond Chow came to his apartment and discovered that he was unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital after a doctor failed to revive him after ten minutes.

According to autopsy reports, at the time of Lee’s death his brain had swollen to up to 13% in size. Traces of Equagesic, a painkiller, were also found in his blood. It was both an aspirin and a muscle relaxant. Some doctors believed that the swelling of his brain could have been induced by oversensitivity to the chemical compounds contained by the drug. Controversy sparked however when Don Langford, the doctor who treated Lee at the time of his first collapse, stated that the painkiller that supposedly caused Lee’s death was absent at the time of the first collapse.

Different rumors also started to arise as to the reason of Lee’s death. One of the most prevalent theories was that the actor might have received a Dim-Mak, or a “Touch of Death”, weeks prior to Lee’s death. Dim-Mak was supposedly, according to oral tradition, a martial arts technique that can kill using seemingly less than lethal force by attacking focal pressure points of the body. Another rumor was that Lee was murdered by the triads. Cannabis or Marijuana was also believed to have been involved in Lee’s death.

Bruce Lee’s untimely demise was a huge loss for the film industry, especially that of the martial arts scene. He was regarded by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. At such a young age, he was able to contribute so much – who knows what else he could have done if he were given a much longer life?

Anna Nicole Smith death

The iconic personality was born on the 28th of November 1967 and raised in Houston, Texas. Not much of an academic person, she dropped out of high school and married by the age of 17. Vickie Lynn Marshall, also known by her stage name as Anna Nicole Smith, was a beloved model, actress, television persona, and sex symbol. Appearing as the Playmate of the Year in 1993, she gained easy popularity through Playboy Magazine. She also modeled, by the age of 20, for some clothing companies like “Guess” jeans. She also starred on her very own reality TV show called The Anna Nicole Show which debuted in August of 2002. Her life was a constant struggle both in their home and outside it. Her struggles, however, ended when she was 39 years of age. Her death was both a shock and a mystery.

It was the 8th of February 2007, she checked in three days earlier at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida with Howard K. Stern. She was staying in room 607 at the hotel. She was found unresponsive, with no pulse and breathing. Her friend, Tasma Brighthaupt, who was also a trained emergency nurse, performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation for about 15 minutes. Smith’s bodyguard, who was also a trained paramedic, upon arriving, took over performing the CPR. This gave Tasma the time to call the hotel workers who in turn called 911. Maurice administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation until the arrival of the paramedics. Smith was then rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival at around 2:49 p.m.

Later that afternoon, the police reported to news reporters at the scene that the room where Smith’s body was found unconscious was cleared and that evidence was being carried out of the building. A seven-week investigation was set in motion and was led by, Broward County Medical Examiner and Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Joshua Perper who also worked with the Seminole Police and a few independent forensic pathologists and toxicologists. The death of Anna Nicole Smith, as Dr. Perper sees it, was because of combined drug intoxication. The main drug component seen was chloral hydrate, a sleeping medication. Although many speculate that it was illegal substance abuse, there is no proof or evidence that would point out to the consumption of illegal drugs. Conclusively, her death was due to drug overdose of the main component and sedative, chloral hydrate that became increasingly deadly when it was combined with other prescription drugs in her system. These other prescription drugs were classified as either mainly depressants or had depression as one of their side effects. The drugs were Clonazepam, Lorazepam, Oxazepam, Diazepam, Benadryl, and Topamax. The levels of the drugs in her blood circulation were of normal amounts but the combination of these drugs was believed to be the main cause of her death.

Ultimately, people have been led to believe that it was an “accidental” drug abuse that killed Anna Nicole Smith. But was it really accidental? It was reported that 8 out of the 11 drugs in Smith’s circulation was not prescribed to her but to her husband. Was the death accidental or was it planned?

Kurt Cobain suicide

Kurt Donald Cobain, born on the 20th of February 1967, was the lead singer and guitarist of the grunge band Nirvana. According to Dave Grohl, Kurt Cobain believed that “Music comes first, lyrics come second.” That is why their grunge acts are mostly known for their catchy riffs and distinct melodies. He was a rock icon, a legend. On the 8th of April 1994, He was found dead in his Lake Washington residence – a shotgun pointed at his chin.

Like the deaths of most young celebrities (he was aged 27 at the time of his death), different theories surrounded Kurt Cobain’s death. The Seattle Police Department at that time ruled his cause of death as suicide. According to their reports, Kurt Cobain’s death was caused by a single gunshot blast from a shotgun. The blast came from his jaw then exited through the top of his head. The suicide ruling was then supported by the shotgun across his body and a suicide note that was found nearby. Despite all this, Tom Grant, a private investigator hired by Courtney Love (Kurt Cobain’s wife), believes that Kurt Cobain’s death wasn’t a suicide – he was murdered.

Richard Lee, an independent journalist from Seattle, was one of the first to publicly object that Kurt Cobain’s death was a suicide. His theory was supported by the fact that there was a remarkable absence of blood at the scene. But according to experts, although a shotgun blast to the head does result in a massive amount of blood splatter, a blast to the mouth would have resulted in less blood splatter, and could explain the absence of blood on the site of Kurt Cobain’s death.

Of course, among all the conspiracy theories that surrounded Kurt Cobain’s death, Tom Grant’s was probably the one with the least amount of holes in it. There are several key components to Tom Grant’s claims. The most prominent one being Kurt Cobain’s heroine levels. According to the toxicology reports, at the time of Kurt Cobain’s death his bloodstream’s heroine levels were so high it would have been impossible for him to have the strength to pull the trigger.

Another key component was Kurt Cobain’s “mysterious” first suicide attempt in Rome. A few weeks prior to his death, Kurt Cobain was rushed to the hospital after an apparent drug overdose in Rome. Courtney Love claimed that 50 pills of Rohypnol were extracted from Cobain’s stomach. Dr. Osvaldo Galletta, who treated Cobain after the incident, specifically denied Love’s claim of a suicide attempt.

The most controversial theory however, was that of Nick Broomfield. His investigation led him to El Duce who claimed that Courtney Love had offered him $50,000 to kill Kurt Cobain. El Duce later passed a polygraph exam and claimed that he knew who killed Cobain, but denied to mention a name.

Without enough evidence, Kurt Cobain’s death still remains as an unsolved mystery. Kurt Cobain’s death certificate states his cause of death was a “contact perforating shotgun would to the head.” At least that part was proven scientifically true

Marilyn Monroe death

Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles General Hospital, Los Angeles, California. She is also known as Norma Jeane Baker, Norma Jeane Dougherty, and Norma Jeane DiMaggio; two of which are from her unsuccessful relationships with her first two husbands. She was an American actress, model, and singer. She had a total of 29 movies and was cast as the leading lady in 15 of those movies. Since her mother was psychologically unstable and her father was not identified, Norma Jeane was placed in a foster home for the first 7 years of her life. At the age of 7, Norma lived with her mother for a short time. But since her mother was now beginning to show signs of depression, she was moved into a rest home. Grace McKee, a close friend of Gladys, was to take care of Norma Jeane. Grace loved Norma Jeane like she was her own; inspiring Norma and supporting her all those times she was staying with Grace. Two years later Grace was married and due to some financial difficulties had to let Norma go. So, Norma was then placed in an orphanage for about another 2 years of her life. Well, Norma had a lot of trials and tribulations that would soon later build her to a stronger woman. Yet a stronger woman is still vulnerable to everything around her, thus, later would build the most debatable Hollywood deaths in history.

There was and still is a lot of debate as the background of her death. She was found dead in her home at Brentwood on August 5, 1962, she was 36 at that time. Norma’s live–in keeper, Eunice Murray, phoned Norma’s psychoanalyst, Ralph S. Greenson, who later found her unconscious in her home. The Los Angeles County Coroners Office ruled the death as caused by acute barbiturate poisoning. If it was an accident or intentional, no one would ever know. There are a lot of speculations on the details surrounding the death of Marilyn Monroe. Examples would be that even though pill bottles were found on the scene, there was nothing there to wash the pills down. And everybody knew that Norma had a hard time swallowing pills even with water. Eunice Murray even acts really peculiar and changes a lot of details in her story, her character seemed to become shifty and evasive, she then moves to Europe and is never questioned again. Also, the component of the barbiturate that was supposed to appear inside the stomach and the intestines didn’t show during examination. Even if Norma ingested them a little earlier then there should have been some traces left inside other organs in her circulatory system. The toxicologist that was assigned did nothing to help the investigation. Minor bruises were found all over her body and the marks on her body showed that she must have fallen on her back when she died yet she was found in a prone position. There was also evidence of cyanosis, or the bluish discoloration of the skin, which is evident of a very quick death which did not occur with barbiturates. However, the toxicology report says otherwise and has reported that there were high levels of the barbiturate that was ingested and also another component was chloral hydrate. So, if oral administration was not the route and there was no evidence of an intravenous administration then the only possible route was anally or vaginally which had no support whatsoever. Yet at the end of it all, they still wrote that the drugs were ingested orally. There is also data that connects the death of Marilyn Monroe to the Kennedy’s. Some see it as a tale of unfulfilled love. Robert Kennedy promised Marilyn Monroe that he would marry her but later broke his promise to her. She then threatened to kill herself, and so she did. But this is just another version of the story. Many people say that she knew too much about the Kennedy’s and hence was killed by them.

However one tells the story of how Marilyn Monroe died. Whether it was due to an accidental drug poisoning or suicide because of a lost love, the fact remains that the world has lost one of the greatest women to have ever lived. She was an epitome of beauty, strength, talent, and will. Marilyn Monroe, an iconic legend lost between the veils of time without ever being brought to justice as to how she died. But that is not important; the vital part of her story was how she lived.

John Lennon assassination

John Lennon is probably a name everyone has heard about. Born on the 9th of October 1940, he was an English singer-songwriter and was a member of the Beatles. He was fully and/or partly responsible for 27 number one singles on the U.S. Hot 100 chart. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987, and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. On the night of the 8th of December 1980, Lennon was shot at the back of the head by Mark David Chapman.

On the day of John Lennon’s assassination, he and his wife Yoko Ono were planning to head to the studio to mix the track “Walking on Ice”, an Ono song featuring John Lennon on the guitars. As the couple left the apartment, several fans approached them and asked for autographs. It was common for fans to wait for Lennon outside their apartment just to get their autographs. One of which was Mark Chapman, the perpetrator behind John Lennon’s assassination. He requested Lennon to sign his copy of Double Fantasy, Lennon obliged. After the autograph signing, the couple proceeded to their limousine and continued their plans for the day.

On the eve of Lennon’s assassination, at about 10:50 P.M. Lennon and Ono were dropped off by their limousine right outside their apartment building. This was because Lennon had decided against eating out, and said that he wanted to say good night to his son before he went to bed.

As they stepped out of the limousine and walked towards the building’s entrance, a figure emerged from the shadows of the archway. Mark Chapman, carrying a .38 special revolver, shot Lennon five times with hollow point bullets. One of which missed and hit the building windows, two hit him on the left side of his back while two more penetrated his left shoulder.

The reason behind John Lennon’s assassination is still unclear up to this day. After Lennon’s assassination, Chapman simply took off his coat and hat and waited for the police to arrive. He brought out a copy of the book “Catcher in the Rye” and sat outside the apartment building. When interrogated by the police after his arrest, he reportedly said that part of him was Holden Caulfield (the protagonist of the Catcher in the Rye), while a small part of him was most likely the “Devil”. It was also reported that Lennon’s 1966 remark, that the Beatles were “more popular than Jesus”, was what caused Chapman to plot Lennon’s assassination. Chapman was obviously mentally and emotionally unstable.

After Lennon’s assassination Chapman was interviewed by different psychiatrists. The doctors concluded that he was indeed delusional and apparently suicidal as well, but he was competent enough to stand on trial.

It has been nearly more than three decades since Lennon’s assassination and Lennon has been subject to numerous memorials and tributes. He has been regarded as one of the most influential musicians to ever step foot in this world, and his contributions have been recognized worldwide, across oceans while his audience spans across different races. He is indeed, a legend.

Elvis Presley death

The world gave the title “King of Rock and Roll” to Elvis Aaron Presley. Also known as the King, Elvis Presley stood a legend in the world of music. Everyone to this day knows who he is. We can still listen to his music on radio programs featuring old songs. People still know Elvis as a sex symbol, featuring physical attractiveness and sexual appeal. Elvis would later live up to his name as the King by dressing up as one, his famous eagle motif outfit that also represented his country, America. At the age of 36, the King was already awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, an award given to those that have contributed outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording. But later in the 70’s, his health would deteriorate and he became drug-dependent. The King’s death would later happen at the early age of 42.

The King of Rock and Roll died on August 16, 1977 partly due to the drugs he took. He took many drugs over his last years in order to reciprocate his now deteriorating health. But despite being weak and drug-dependent, the King still took on many tours and concerts which lead to the King’s death. Plenty of fans saw him force himself to the stage, literally impossible to understand. The once mighty energetic King Elvis has now fallen like an abused peasant. Of course, he wasn’t abused by anyone, but by the drugs he thought he needed to overdose himself with. But nonetheless, the King would not want to admit to the people and himself that he was weak, that he needed a year’s rest or so before hitting the road again. Elvis wanted to serve his fans so much that he had a tour set to begin before he was found lifeless on his bathroom floor. The King’s death not only placed him in peace, but also his friends and supporters that wanted him to take a break from all his sufferings.

Early autopsies done during the King’s death showed that he was killed through the plenty of drugs he took every day. Drug use was heavily implicated as the cause of the King’s death, but during that time, there were plenty of allegations that there was a cover-up involved. The first report released before the first autopsy was finished claimed the King died of cardiac arrhythmia, a condition indentified to be present only in someone who is still alive. The King’s physician, Dr. Nichopoulos, faced criminal liabilities with the death of Elvis because he was found to have prescribed as much as 10,000 doses of sedatives, amphetamines and narcotics to Elvis in the first eight months of the year 1977 alone leading to the King’s death. Years after the King’s death, the autopsy was reopened in 1994. Coroner Dr. Joseph Davis declared that very few data would suggest the King’s death from drug overdose, but plenty of signs showed a sudden heart attack. Some people claimed that Elvis staged his own death to revive his tumbling career. Many other people have claimed to have seen Elvis Presley after his death.

Very few people would want to know the real reason behind the King’s death. Those that saw him in his later years knew he was going to retire in one way or another. In fact, some wanted the King’s death to happen soon before he thoroughly ruins his own image. And so the King’s death put everyone who cared in peace.

Michael Jackson death

Michael Jackson is well recognized around the world even to this day. Few entertainers have contributed as much to the music industry as Michael Jackson’s has. Not only did he popularize himself through singing, but also in dancing, thus being praised as the King of Pop. Born on August 29, 1958, Michael Jackson enjoyed success in his career but paired with a number of controversies as well. He is infamously known as a racist, disowning his African-American heritage through numerous plastic surgeries turning his skin white. He was also under fire with counts of sexual abuse, but was found not guilty on all charges. Nevertheless, Michael Jackson planned a comeback concert entitled “This Is It”, but on June 25, 2009, the world stopped for a moment after the shocking death of the King of Pop.

On June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson was found dead in his bedroom by his physician Conrad Murray. A magician on the set of Michael Jackson’s last rehearsal claimed that on June 24, the pop artist arrived feeling unhealthy. Michael Jackson arrived at 6:30pm but only started rehearsing by 9pm, by which time he looked energetic and well. Rehearsals would go past midnight. The cause of the death of the King of Pop was first announced as cardiac arrest, but further investigations showed signs of foul play. Autopsies done on Michael Jackson by the Los Angeles County Coroner together with the Drug Enforcement Administration showed signs of involuntary manslaughter through the drugs administered led to the death of the King of Pop. The main combination of drugs was anesthetic propofol and anxiolytic lorazepam, together with some less significant substances. On August 28 of that same year, the death of the King of Pop was ruled a homicide, pointing out personal physician Conrad Murray as the main culprit.

Many speculations have, however, surfaced since the death of the King of Pop. To think that after his death, all the controversy would stop. But in the case of the death of the King of Pop, it only added more. To this day, the very reason behind the death of the King of Pop is still unclear. Some accounts claimed Michael Jackson was ordered killed by relatives due to his music catalogs, half of which now amounts to a minimum of 1 billion dollars. The King of Pop was quoted telling his adviser, “They want my catalog Rowe — and they will kill me for it.” Numerous accounts also claimed that the two sons of Michael Jackson were present at the time his body was found weak-pulsed, but made no immediate attempt to call for help. Also, some claim that the death of the King of Pop was due to lupus, a rare incurable disease that would mean the demise of the patient in his or her 40’s or 50’s. The questionable theory is that Michael Jackson is still alive and it was not his body that was carried out of his mansion home.

The death of the King of Pop has long been ruled a homicide. What the people want to know now is why would someone kill a man of his stature, and who were really involved in his sudden demise. Who would have known that the death of the King of Pop would happen so soon? Many speculations may have come up since the time of his death, but what the public knows is that the world lost an amazing icon, a legend, in the form of Michael Jackson.
